Hi everyone, it’s Dru, and today I want to give you some information about your car to help you drive and do things you want to do. One of the questions I get a lot is, “How do I get better fuel mileage?” This is a good question, and there are some easy things you can do to affect it.

How do I improve my gas mileage?

1. Don’t drive crazy

My first tip is the way you drive. I know, it’s boring. But keep your foot off of the gas pedal and you’ll get better gas mileage.

2. Get a clean air filter

Another thing you can do maintenance wise to get better gas mileage is to get a clean air filter. By having a clean air filter, the air can flow efficiently through the car and into the combustion area so that your car gets good sparks and combustion. That’s not very much money to replace.

3. Give your car a tune-up

You can also get a tuneup. Most tuneups will include doing maintenance on the spark plugs and coils. The coil is what sends the spark to the spark plug, then the spark plug ignites the fuel. If you have a nice clean spark plug and the coil is operating correctly, your engine will run efficiently and use the most of the fuel that it’s given. That will help improve your gas mileage.

4. Get an induction cleaning

The last thing I’m going to talk about is getting an induction cleaning. This is something most people have probably never heard of! Here’s a breakdown of what it is. The newer motors that are more common today have a tendency to get carbon buildup. That carbon is like a sponge and will soak up a lot of fuel and make the engine run less efficiently. With an induction cleaning, we’re able to go in, clean out all the carbon, and get the engine operating as it is supposed to. We also clean out the injectors. Injectors spray the fuel onto the spark plugs.

If you get a nice mist going, then that combustion is really effective and efficient. If the injectors aren’t clean, you’ll get dribbles rather than a mist, and the spark plug is not going to ignite that fuel. The excess goes down through your exhaust and harms your catalytic converter. So, when your engine is clean from carbon and your fuel injectors are clean, your engine is more efficient and good combustion can take place in your car, and you get better gas mileage!
